About BEP Marine
BEP Marine was evolved from the auto electrical company BE Pratt Ltd in the late 1970s. The company specialised in electrical installations for production boat manufacturers in the New Zealand market, and quickly saw the need for custom-designed marine electrical products.
The first products in this range were basic switch and fuse panels, and as the market evolved circuit breakers were used. The company then branched into selling wiring harnesses for marine engines and easy installation harnesses for boat-builders.
Emerging from the recession of the late 1980s, BEP Marine regrouped and launched into a major product design program. The result of this effort was the Contour panel design; an initiative that proved so successful, BEP Marine now sells this product worldwide.
Based on this initial success, BEP Marine decided there was room in the market for a better battery switch design, and responded by developing a full range of battery distribution products.
In December 2005 BEP Marine's shareholding changed hands and is now 100% owned by Actuant Corporation, a $1.4 Billion turnover per year, US based company.
Today, BEP Marine continues to grow and expand it's product range at an ever-increasing pace and is now regarded as market leaders in the marine electrical accessaries field.
